A message from Founding Partner, Brett Trembly:
Thirteen years ago, we founded Trembly Law with a single mission: to protect the economy, one business at a time. It’s been an incredible journey full of challenges, growth, and victories that have shaped who we are today. With every client, case, and lesson learned, we’ve become a stronger firm with a clear sense of purpose. As we celebrate this milestone, I want to share the core lessons we’ve embraced along the way – principles that guide us now and will continue to lead us into the future.
1. Don’t Burn Bridges
In the world of business law, relationships are everything. You never know when paths may cross again, and preserving strong, respectful relationships has allowed us to reconnect with former clients and colleagues, as well as strengthen our reputation in the community. Whether it’s a client who returns after exploring other options, or a team member who re-joins after a time away, keeping bridges intact has been essential for growth.
2. Focus on the Team
Never underestimate the power of a strong team. Each member brings unique strengths and perspectives that enrich our firm’s culture and contribute to our success. At Trembly Law, we believe that every person plays a vital role in shaping our environment and driving our mission forward. By recognizing and appreciating each individual’s skills, we foster a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels valued and motivated. This shared commitment to excellence and accountability is what sets us apart and strengthens our firm every day.
3. Stay True to Core Values
Our core values aren’t just words on paper – they’re the foundation of everything we do. They attract the right people, both as team members and clients. By staying true to our values, we’ve built a culture of positivity, respect, and shared purpose. This commitment has brought us talented individuals like attorneys Jonathan Carvajal and Ana Rivera, and our Paralegal Emmanuelle Oliveira, and Micaela Anchepe, who embody our values and contribute to the firm’s success.
4. Apologize When Necessary
Humility and accountability are key to growth. Recognizing when we’ve made mistakes, apologizing, and striving to improve show strength, not weakness. Over time, I’ve found that owning up to mistakes isn’t just about correcting an error—it’s about building trust and resilience. Apologizing allows us to move forward stronger and fosters a culture where learning from our mistakes is valued.
5. Embrace Change
Change is the only constant, and in a growing law firm, it’s essential to adapt and innovate. Recently, we implemented a new POD structure, designed to propel us into the next phase of growth. Embracing change means we’re always refining our approach to stay effective and efficient. From re-evaluating our processes to welcoming new team members with fresh ideas, adaptability has been crucial to our evolution.
6. Have Fun
Building a law firm is hard work, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the journey. Creating a supportive, fun atmosphere has been one of the reasons I started this firm. Whether it’s game nights, team outings, or sharing laughs in the office, we believe a happy team makes for a strong firm. Balancing hard work with moments of joy is what keeps us energized and connected.
7. Hire A-Players
Hiring great people and empowering them to shine has been one of our most valuable strategies. We’ve been fortunate to attract some incredibly talented individuals who not only excel at their work but also align with our values. Team members like Arturo Arca, Elias Correa, and Christian Rodriguez have been with us for over six years, and their dedication and experience are a testament to the power of building a team of A-players.
8. Don’t Be Afraid to Promote Yourself
Self-promotion isn’t always comfortable, but it’s necessary. We’re here to help businesses thrive, and part of that means making sure they know we’re here to support them. Promoting our services is about sharing the value we bring, and if we’re not willing to advocate for ourselves, we can’t expect others to. Being confident in what we offer has helped us grow our client base and broaden our impact.
9. Revenue is Vanity, Profit is Sanity
Recognition like the Inc. 5000 list is a fantastic achievement, but sustainable growth is about more than numbers. Profitability is what drives long-term success and allows us to reinvest in our firm, our team, and our clients. Staying focused on what truly matters has kept us grounded, reminding us that while awards are meaningful, financial stability is the true measure of success.
10. Take Calculated Risks
Growth requires stepping outside of your comfort zone, but that doesn’t mean jumping in blindly. Taking calculated risks has allowed us to expand in thoughtful ways, ensuring that each decision aligns with our mission. From launching new services to rethinking our internal processes, we’re always looking for ways to grow in a way that’s both bold and measured.
11. Work-Life Balance Matters
At Trembly Law Firm, we prioritize balance. We work hard, but we also believe in making time for personal lives, knowing that well-rounded individuals make the strongest team. Unlike many law firms, we don’t ask our team to work grueling hours. We believe in a balanced approach, and this commitment to work-life balance has allowed us to attract and retain talented individuals who are dedicated to our mission.
12. Don’t Fear Failure
Failure isn’t the end—it’s just another step in the learning process. Embracing mistakes as micro-failures and valuable lessons has fostered resilience within our team. We encourage everyone to take risks and learn from setbacks. True failure only happens when you give up, so as long as we’re learning, we’re growing stronger.
13. Celebrate Your Team
Again, it’s all about the people. Our firm wouldn’t be where it is today without the dedication and hard work of every team member. Recognizing and rewarding their contributions is essential, as they are the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s a simple thank-you, a team outing, or celebrating milestones, we know that when we invest in our people, they invest in our mission.
Here’s to Many More Years Ahead
As we reflect on these 13 years, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey – our clients, our team, and our supporters. You’ve helped shape Trembly Law Firm into what it is today, and we’re excited to continue protecting and empowering businesses in the years to come. Here’s to many more years of growth, success, and service!
